shelrose beauty

I am so excited to announce my newest venture that has been a dream of mine for a long time. shelrose beauty© is my new freelance makeup artistry website. You will be able to find great beauty and makeup posts, homemade pressed glitters, and you’ll be able to connect and schedule appointments with me.

Ever since I was in middle school, I loved playing with makeup. I can still remember my sparkly, blue eyeshadow stick that I used to line around my eyes. I thought it looked so good.

Through the years, my love for makeup progressed and in high school, I started doing makeup for friends and family. I loved making my friends feel beautiful for prom and special occasions.

I grew up in a family where fashion and beauty was a big part of our lives. My aunt Maureen is a hairdresser and makeup artist. I remember the first time she did my makeup was for my dance recital when I was about four years old. I knew I wanted to be like her.

Although I have no professional training, I was taught by my aunt throughout the years and learning from beauty youtubers has become my number one past time. I do have plans of attending a makeup artistry class very soon to get my certification.

This is an exciting new chapter in my life and it feels amazing to finally be perusing my dreams. Once is completed, I will be moving all my blogging there and will unfortunately not be blogging on fashionblooded anymore.

I will keep everyone updated and thank you for all your support.

Love, Shelby

Favorite Lip Glosses

Fall and winter brought us the liquid lipstick trend. A matte lip that would dry down and last all day. Now that it’s summer, I don’t want anything to feel dry on my skin. I have been loving feeling dewy, glowy and fresh. I have been wearing lipgloss a lot more and here are some of my favorites that you have to check out. What I love most about all of these lip glosses is that they are super pigmented and don’t feel thick and goopy on your lips.

Bareminerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lip Gloss

These glosses are new from Bareminerals and let me tell you, they are incredible. They retail for $18 which may seem expensive for a lipgloss but they are so creamy and pigmented. They feel very lightweight on your lips and the applicator makes it very easy to get full coverage.

Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip

If you are on a budget or just want to save some money and still get an amazing product, look no further than Colourpop. Their Ultra Glossy Lips are pigmented, lightweight and what I love most is their color range. They even have metallic lip glosses which are so cool. I wore one to work the other day, it’s my favorite.

Nyx Butter Gloss

I love how Nyx cosmetics is affordable and such good quality. There glosses are no exception. My favorite color is a beautiful nude called Tiramisu.

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream

Buxom is known for their lip glosses. My favorite is the shade White Russian which acts as a perfect lip topper over a lipstick to lighten the color and add a beautiful shine.

Ginger Jar Wallpaper

Growing up, my mother, grandmother and aunts always decorated their homes with ginger jars. You couldn’t turn a corner of my house without seeing a ginger jar on a table, sometimes with flowers peaking out. I love ginger jars as well and I always knew I wanted to decorate my future home with them, but how beautiful are these ginger jar wallpapers?

One of my favorite fashion trends of the moment is grommets. I love how they give clothing and accessories a cool, edgy feel while still looking sophisticated. Grommets with lace strung through is especially a favorite look of mine. Aren’t those pants below stunning? Want!

Bronzed Goddess

Besides mascara, my favorite makeup product is bronzer. I have always been extremely fair and when I finally started wearing bronzer, it changed my life.

Summer is approaching and that is my favorite time to wear bronzer. I love shimmery bronzers, matte bronzers, powder, creme and liquid.

Here’s a list of my favorite bronzers.

Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer

I absolutely love this bronzer. It gives your skin a beautiful sheen and glow. It is also on the cool toned side so it’s perfect for fair or light-medium skin.

Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Creme Bronzer

I recently purchased this creme bronzer because I love a very dewy look in the summer. I also heard that it was a great dupe for the Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzer. I love this because it doesn’t go on thick like you would think a creme bronzer would. I swirl my powder brush by Real Techniques in it and the product melts into my skin.

Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Bronzer

My favorite high-end bronzer, the Hourglass bronzers gives such a natural, luminous glow without glitter on your face. Actually, the Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer is a great dupe for this but I still highly recommend the Hourglass.

Your Most Beautiful You Anti-Aging Face Palette

It Cosmetics makes some of my favorite face products. This palette introduced me to highlighting and bronzing and I never looked back. I especially love the bronzer in this. It it matte but doesn’t look dull on your face. If you are a beginner with makeup, I highly recommend this palette.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

If you haven’t tried this bronzer you have to! A cult favorite, the Butter Bronzer has a unique creme/powder finish that melts into your skin and leaves a subtle sheen. Not only is it beautiful but it smells like coconut which puts you in a summery mood.

Current Foundation Favorites

I am always on the hunt for a foundation that is going to give me flawless skin. Since I suffer from Rosacea, I look for a foundation that is going to give me good coverage while not looking dry and cakey. I love a luminous, dewy finish and tend not to gravitate towards matte foundations. You’re face can never have too much glow. Here’s a list of my current favorite foundations.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+Illumination™ Cream with SPF 50+

Although this is technically a CC cream, this foundation has become a staple in my collection. I love to wear this in the spring and summer. It gives your skin a stunning, natural luminosity while providing medium coverage. “Your Skin But Better” truly describes this product. It doesn’t look like you’re wearing foundation because it just melts into your skin and blends out beautifully.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

This has been my holy grail foundation for a long time. I have realized that my ideal foundation is lightweight, gives me a natural glow and medium to full coverage. That basically describes Nars Sheer Glow. The finish is not as luminous as the It CC cream but it’s luminous in a more subtle way. The coverage is medium to full and is perfect for covering my Rosacea without looking cakey, thick and dry.

Hourglass Vanish™ Seamless Finish Foundation Stick

Newer to my collection, this little stick has quickly made it into my holy grail foundations. At first I was hesitant to try a stick foundation but the reviews were incredible so I had to give it a go. The finish isn’t matte but it isn’t dewy. It is a perfect balance of the two and the finish gives you an airbrushed look.

A trend I have been loving is a bell sleeve. This retro style has come back and I have already bought a bunch of these. This style is perfect for spring for a feminine, minimalistic style. You can also edge up this look by paring it with leather pants or a leather jacket. Such a fun look. Here’s some inspiration.

Clean Beauty

I had my first facial last week and it was such an amazing experience. Not only did it feel great, it was very informative. My esthetician told me that so many beauty and makeup products on the market have toxins and chemicals that we should not be putting anywhere near our skin. Some people may argue that they use Maybelline, or L’Oréal makeup and haven’t noticed anything bad happening to their skin. However, it may not be an immediate reaction. The whole point is that it can affect your skin as you age. Also, if you suffer from acne or skin issues, it very well could be from the toxins in your beauty and makeup products.

Here’s some clean beauty products I want to try…

Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Flawless Serum Foundation

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Luminizer

Physicians Formula Organic wear® 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara

RMS Beauty Cream Eye Polish

Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish
